Outside Conductors, 600 Volts or Less
Certain requirements apply to branch-circuit, feeder, and service conductors run outdoors as open conductors that are rated 600 volts, nominal, or less.
Conductors supported on poles must provide a horizontal climbing space no less than the following:
- Power conductors below communication conductors: 30 inches
- Power conductors alone or above communication conductors: 24 inches for 300 volts or less; 30 inches for more than 300 volts
- Communication conductors below power conductors: Same as power conductors
Lamps for outdoor light must be located below live conductors, transformers, and other electric equipment unless the following conditions are met:
- The equipment is controlled by a disconnection means that can be locked in the open position.
- Adequate clearances or other safeguards are provided for re-lamping operations.
