Electric Welders

Electric welders must meet certain installation guidelines, as follows:

• There must be a disconnecting means in the supply circuit for each motor-generator arc welder.
• If there is not a disconnect mounted on the welder, a disconnecting means must also be in the supply circuit for each alternating current transformer and direct current rectifier arc welder.
• There must be a switch or circuit breaker capable of isolating each resistance welder and its control equipment from the supply circuit. The ampere rating of the disconnecting means cannot be less than the supply conductor ampacity.
