X-Ray Equipment
X-ray equipment must meet certain installation guidelines, as follows:
- A disconnecting means must be present in the supply circuit and operable from a location readily accessible from the X-ray control. For equipment connected to a 120-volt branch circuit of 30 amperes or less, a grounding-type plug cap and receptacle of proper rating can serve as the disconnecting means.
- If more than one piece of equipment is operated from the same high-voltage circuit, each piece or group must have a disconnecting means, such as a high-voltage switch. The disconnecting means must be enclosed in a way that protects employees from the live parts.
- Radiographic and fluoroscopic-type equipment must be enclosed or have interlocks that automatically de-energize the equipment to prevent access to live parts.
