Hot Work Tools & Requirements

There are a multitude of tools that can be used during hot work operations. In this section, we will provide a brief overview of each type of hot work and the tools commonly used for each type.

Of the six subsets of hot work this course covers, many use tools that are similar to one another, though the processes for correct use change according to the work being performed and the site-specific hazards.

Being able to identify and correctly utilize the tools of hot work is the first step in maintaining a safe working environment. Any specific hazards for each tool will be covered in this section, while more general hot work hazards will be covered in the next section. This section will also cover any specific OSHA requirements in regard to the type of work being performed.
