More Exposure-Limiting Practices
There are additional practices that employers should ensure employees practice in order to limit their exposure. These simple yet effective actions will significantly impact their lead exposure levels.
- Never let employees enter eating areas while wearing protective work clothing or equipment that has not had surface lead dust removed. (For example, by HEPA vacuuming or a downdraft booth.)
- In every area where employees are exposed to lead above the PEL, employees must never allow the presence or consumption of food, beverages, tobacco products, and cosmetics.
- Employees with airborne lead exposure above the PEL must always wash their hands and face before eating, drinking, smoking, or applying cosmetics.
