Respiratory Protection Fit Test
A respirator will not work if it does not fit the user's face properly. That is why prior to wearing a respirator in the work environment, employees must undergo a fit test from an employer. Employees must undergo testing every year. They must also undergo testing whenever they use a different respirator facepiece.
Please note that many workers wear prescription glasses or personal protective equipment (like safety goggles or earmuffs) while working. These employees must wear these items during the fit test.
There are two types of fit tests: qualitative and quantitative.
