Return After Medical Removal
Employees may return to work under these conditions.
- When two consecutive blood sampling tests show the employee's blood lead level is below 40 µg/dL (for employees whose levels were above the approved AL).
- When a final medical determination results in a medical finding, determination, or opinion that the employee no longer has a detected medical condition that places the employee at increased risk of lead exposure (for employees who were removed for another reason, per physician orders).
Please note that employers may remove any limitations placed on employees or end any special protective measures only after a final medical determination states they are no longer necessary.
It is possible that in the time the employee was on leave, his or her specific job or task may have been completed. If this is the case, the employee must receive another job that is consistent with the former job.
