Authorized Entrant & Attendant

As an entrant, you must be familiar with the hazards you may face when entering a confined space. You must also know the signs and symptoms of exposure to hazards, so that you can know when you are being affected. Before you enter a space, a certified competent person is required to have evaluated the specific hazards. The employer will then train you on the specifics. It is wise to become familiar with other hazards as well, in case something unexpected happens. The NIOSH Pocket Guide to Chemical Hazards has information on hundreds of chemicals, including their uses, effects, and symptoms of exposure.
