Bolted Diagonal Bridging
Whenever bolted diagonal bridging is required, it must follow these guidelines:
- The bridging must be indicated on the erection drawing.
- The erection drawing is the final word on the proper placement of the bridging. Deviations from the drawing's bridging placement are prohibited.
- Shop-installed bridging clips or their equivalent must be used where the bridging connects to the joist.
- When two bridging pieces are connected to a shared bolt, the nut that secures the first piece must not be removed while the second is being attached.
- To prevent tripping hazards, bridging attachments must not protrude above the top chord of the joist.
