Other Provisions
If there are gaps surrounding a column where planks or decking do not fit tightly, the gaps must be covered by mesh, exterior plywood, or some other material that can provide fall protection and stop objects from falling through.
During installation, metal decking should be laid tightly and immediately secured to prevent it from moving or falling down. Individual decking pieces should be fully supported by structural members to avoid them tipping or breaking apart when they are under load.
Derrick floors must be completely decked in order to support their intended loads. Loads placed on derrick floors should be spread out among the structural support elements so that no one area is overloaded with weight.
