Solid Web Structural Steel

Solid web structural steel elements in systems-engineered metal buildings must meet the following criteria:

  • Structural columns must be anchored by at least four anchor bolts.
  • Rigid frames must have at least half of their bolts installed and tightened on both sides of the web next to each flange before hoisting equipment may be released, unless otherwise specified by the manufacturer.
  • Construction loads must not be placed on any structural steel framework before that framework is securely attached by means of bolting, welding, or equivalent methods.
