Using Jackhammers

When using jackhammers to break concrete pavement, construction workers are potentially exposed to hazardous dust that contains respirable crystalline silica. NIOSH studies found that such exposures could be reduced by using a water-spray attachment. The use of a low-flow, water-spray attachment suppressed and reduced dust exposures by 70% to 90%.
