Awkward Positioning
Nailing in awkward positions where the tool and its recoil are more difficult to control increases the risk of injury. Awkward positions include toe-nailing (driving a nail at an angle through a work piece), nailing above shoulder height, nailing in tight quarters, holding the gun with the non-dominant hand, nailing while on a ladder, or nailing toward yourself. A secondary risk of nailing in awkward positions is the risk of falling. Nailing beyond a comfortable reach distance from a ladder, elevated work platform, or leading edge all place the worker at risk of falling.
