Double Fire
The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) found that contact trigger nailers are susceptible to double firing, particularly when trying to accurately place the nailer against the work piece. A second, unintended firing can happen faster than the user is able to react, and injuries can be caused as a result.
Double firing can be a particular problem for new workers who push too hard on the tool to compensate for recoil. It can also be a problem if the user is in an awkward position that does not provide enough space for the nailer to recoil. Note that in tight spaces like this, the recoil itself can also cause non-nail injuries if it hits the user's head or face.
