Key Terms
A nail gun, also called a nailer, is a type of power tool used to drive nails into wood or other materials.
Recoil is the rapid rebound or kickback after a nailer is fired.
A double fire occurs when a second nail unintentionally fires because the nailer re-contacted the work piece after recoil.
Bump firing, or bounce nailing, is using a nail gun with the trigger held down and bumping or bouncing the tool along the work piece to fire nails.
