Flagger Stations
The position where the flagger stands is referred to as the "flagger station." A flagger station must be located in such a way that all approaching drivers will have sufficient distance for stopping at the intended spot. The speed of the traffic determines this stopping sight distance. When higher-speed traffic is present in the area, the distance must be longer.
The flagging station must be preceded by an advance warning sign or signs. The flagger station must also be illuminated at night, except in emergency situations where there is not enough time to set up lighting.
