No Mixing of Dissimilar Scaffold Parts
Scaffold components manufactured by different manufacturers must not be intermixed unless the component parts fit together without force and the resulting scaffold's structural integrity is maintained.
Furthermore, scaffold components manufactured by different manufacturers must not be modified in order to intermix them unless the resulting scaffold is determined by a competent person to be structurally sound. OSHA expects that the competent person who evaluates the scaffold will have the appropriate knowledge, skill, and experience regarding scaffold systems and components.
Scaffold components made of dissimilar metals must not be used together unless a competent person has determined that galvanic action will not reduce the strength of any component below mandated levels. (Mandated scaffold capacity is covered later in this course.)
