Non-Mandatory Guidelines for Complying with PFAS Regulations
Personal fall arrest systems are only as safe as their components; all components and the system as a whole must be tested prior to use. Appendix C to Subpart M of §1926 provides non-mandatory guidelines for complying with OSHA testing guidelines for PFAS. The appendix provides information about the following PFAS considerations:
- Selection and use
- Testing
- Component compatibility
- Employee training
- Rescue
- Inspection
- Tie-offs
- Vertical lifelines
- Snap hooks
- Freefall
- Elongation and deceleration distances
- Obstructions
It is not within the scope of this course to cover all of this material. Consult Appendix C to Subpart M of 29 CFR §1926 for details. The following slides provide highlights of the appendix of interest to employees and employers alike.
