Removal of Bracing

Removal of braces is sometimes necessary to allow better access to a wall or other working surface.

  • Various bracing patterns can be used to leave every other bay open, but generally cross braces must be left in place.
  • On fabricated frame scaffolds, some cross braces may be removed; however, removal of cross braces will depend on the height of the scaffold, number of planked levels, number of active work levels, and type and location of ties.
  • Before attempting to remove braces on tube and coupler, system, or Euro-style frame scaffolds, check with the manufacturer or a qualified person.
  • Remember: All scaffolds must be erected or modified under the supervision of a competent person to ensure that the scaffold is erected or modified according to applicable regulations and manufacturer's instructions.
