Suspension Scaffold Support Devices
Suspension scaffolds generally hang from a structure and therefore have a different set of criteria for safe installation and use.
- All suspension scaffold support devices, such as outrigger beams, cornice hooks, parapet clamps, and similar devices, must rest on surfaces capable of supporting at least four times the loads imposed on them by the scaffold operating at the rated load of the hoist.
- Or at least 1.5 times the loads imposed on them by the scaffold operating at the stall load of the hoist, whichever is greater.
- Suspension scaffold outrigger beams, when used, must be made of structural metal or equivalent strength material and be restrained to prevent movement.
