Materials & Equipment

Materials and equipment used for protective systems must meet the following criteria:

• Must be used and maintained according to manufacturer recommendations and in a way that prevents employee exposure to hazards.
• Must be free from damage or defects that might impair its proper function.
  • When such material or equipment is damaged, a competent person must examine it and evaluate its suitability for continued use.

Remove material or equipment from service that is deemed unable to support its intended loads or is otherwise unsuitable for safe use. A registered professional engineer must evaluate and approve materials and equipment prior to the materials or equipment being returned to service.
