• There are 21,000 tattoo parlors in the United States.
• Spending on tattoos in the United States equals $1,650,500,000.
• 49 percent of people with tattoos think the reputation of the tattoo artist or tattoo studio is the most important factor to consider when getting a tattoo.
• 14 percent of Americans have a body piercing other than the earlobe.
• 83 percent of Americans have had their earlobes pierced.
• 31 percent of piercings in the United States are reported to have had complications, with 15.2 percent of those complications requiring professional help.
