HCV Treatment
Unlike HBV, there is no vaccination for HCV prevention. If someone develops an acute HCV infection, there are treatments available that will help a person to not develop chronic HCV. Around 25 percent of the people who develop acute HCV will not need treatment, and their bodies will clear it on their own. For those who do develop chronic HCV, there are many medications and treatments available. In the past, the drugs have had serious side effects; however, many new drugs have been developed over the last few years, and they come with far fewer side effects and are generally better tolerated.
