Derrick Load Holding

On occasion, a load may have to remain suspended. In these cases:

  • The operator cannot leave their position while a load remains suspended.
  • No one may pass under the suspended load.

Should the load have to remain suspended for some time, a device other than the brake (for example, a pawl and ratchet) must be employed to help hold the load.
