Requirements for Trainers

The person who trains employees must meet the following criteria:

• Is an employee or agent of the operator-in-training's employer
• Possesses the knowledge, training, and experience required to instruct the operator-in-training about the equipment
• Performs no other simultaneous tasks that could potentially distract the trainer from monitoring the operator-in-training
• Remains in direct line of sight with the operator-in-training
• Communicates verbally or by hand signals
• Monitors the trainee at all times, except for short breaks
