Loss of Consciousness - Co-worker

If a co-worker loses consciousness, contact 911 (or emergency services, if available at your worksite). Check for a pulse and respiration. A trained person might need to begin CPR.

Serious and long-term effects of crude oil exposure can include:

• chemical burns
• skin damage or tumors
• cancer
• damage to the heart and circulatory system
• damage to the brain and nervous system
• damage to the immune system
• damage to major organs (such as the kidneys or lungs)
• sterility
• birth defects

In certain severe situations, death can result.
