Face Shield Windows
Face shield windows extend from the worker's brow to below the chin and across the entire width of the face. They are made from different transparent materials and in varying levels of thickness. The face shield's thickness should correspond to the task being performed. Face shield windows have either a removable or front-lift design. Removable windows make it easy for the worker to replace damaged windows, while front-lift windows can be raised or lowered as needed.
There are two main types of face shield windows:
- Wire-screen windows protect against moderate impact injuries. They may include a plastic or glass insert. They are not recommended for protection against chemical or liquid hazards.
- Heat-reflective windows may offer limited protection against UV rays, but they are effective against impact and radiant heat hazards.
