Full-Face Respirators
OSHA requires employers to have full-face respirators on hand in case of situations that are immediately dangerous to life or health (IDLH) of their employees.
SCBAs and SARs can protect against these hazards, but employers should take steps to reduce or eliminate these hazards before resorting to respirators. There are easy ways to do this: confining the exposure to a specific area, ventilation in the workplace, or using non-toxic materials. However, if this is not possible, employers should supply respirators to all affected employees when it is necessary to protect the employees' health.
