Training Requirements

Employees must be trained by a knowledgeable designated person. In addition, the training must be conducted in an easy manner all employees can understand. Each trained employee must demonstrate a working knowledge of proper PPE maintenance and use before using PPE. Even if workers bring in their own PPE, employers must still train workers on proper usage. If any employee shows a lack of understanding or skill regarding PPE use, the employer must retrain that employee. Retraining is required under the following circumstances:

• When workplace changes render previous training obsolete
• Changes in PPE render previous training obsolete
• Employees demonstrate a lack of understanding or retention of the information provided
