Introduction to Electrical Standard Training
Electrical safety regulations are designed to reduce the possibility that the presence of electricity will create accidents that injure or kill workers. Several different sets of electrical safety regulations protect workers who must or may come into contact with electricity. The United States Department of Labor, through the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), provides electrical regulations that are applicable to all U.S. workers not otherwise covered under an OSHA-certified state plan.
This course will cover the requirements of the OSHA Electrical Standard. Specifically, the course will include the provisions of 29 CFR 1910.301 to 1910.399, including design safety standards for electrical systems and safety-related work practices. The full text of this standard can be accessed on OSHA's website under 29 CFR, 1910 Subpart S-Electrical.
Please note that this course provides an overview only. To conform to rules related to the handling of electrical energy in your unique workplace, you must consult the regulations directly. Carefully follow the specifications and procedures provided there. Upon completion of this course, you will be familiar with the full scope and sequence of the regulations, and this will aid you in locating the information required.
