Services

Employers must provide the means to disconnect all conductors in a building or other structure from the service-entrance conductors. The means of service disconnection must indicate both the open or closed position and must be installed at a readily accessible location nearest the entrance of the service-entrance conductors.

Each service disconnecting device must simultaneously disconnect all ungrounded conductors, and must be suitable for the prevailing conditions.

Services of More Than 600 Volts Nominal

For services of more than 600 volts nominal, employers must make sure that service-entrance conductors installed as open wires are guarded to make them accessible only to qualified people. Signs warning of high voltage must be posted where unqualified employees could come in contact with live parts.
