Wiring Methods, Components, and Equipment for General Use
The OSHA Electrical Standard includes design safety standards for wiring methods; components such as switches, conductors, cords, and cables; and equipment for general use. These requirements are covered in 29 CFR 1910.305.
Wiring Methods
Where necessary, metal noncurrent-carrying parts that serve as grounding conductors, with or without the use of supplementary equipment grounding conductors, must be effectively bonded. This ensures electrical continuity and the capacity to safely conduct the fault current.
An equipment enclosure that is supplied by a branch circuit may be isolated from a raceway when necessary for the reduction of electrical noise of the grounding circuit. This installation must meet the requirements found in 29 CFR 1910.305.
No wiring systems of any type may be installed in ducts that are used to transport dust, loose stock, or flammable vapors.
