Atmospheric Testing & Monitoring
Testing the air inside a confined space before going inside is extremely important. You need to detect conditions that could be hazardous, such as too little oxygen for breathing or toxic or flammable gases.
The NIOSH provides classification levels for atmospheres that are considered IDLH - Immediately Dangerous to Life or Health. IDLH atmospheres are capable of causing death, irreversible adverse health effects, or the impairment of an individual's ability to escape from a dangerous situation. IDLH concentration levels for each chemical can be found in the NIOSH Documentation.
