Rescue Entrant
The authorized rescue entrant is designated to enter a permit-required confined space for rescue operations. The entrant is responsible for the following duties:
- Know the hazards that may be faced during entry
- Self-monitor
- Use equipment properly
- Communicate with the attendant
- Alert the attendant of hazards that may arise
- Exit the space quickly, as needed
Back-up Rescue Entrant
The back-up entrant is to remain outside the confined space and be suited up for immediate entry, if required.
All entrants must have operational or technical level training, have practiced confined space rescues at least once every 12 months, and have hands-on training on all equipment used.
