Oil & Gas Well Drilling

Hot work performed at oil and gas well drilling sites can be particularly dangerous due to the abundance of ignition sources. Operators must conduct tests for flammable gases at the work site before starting any hot work.

Potentially hazardous areas include, but are not limited to, well heads, fuel tanks, mud tanks, tank batteries, gas separators, oil treaters, and confined spaces where hazardous gases or vapor can accumulate. Because of the unique hazards, hot work operators must be especially diligent with fire watch and following proper procedure at oil and gas well drilling sites.
