Controls & PPE

Employees must not tamper with or disable any engineering controls. If you notice any issues with engineering controls, report them to your supervisor or an authorized staff member.

For administrative controls, you must follow all policies and procedures. Report any violations to a designated representative.

Pay attention during training and ask questions if you are unclear on any topic. Know where relevant documentation is and familiarize yourself with it.

Wear all PPE properly, including hearing protection, and maintain it according to instructions. Do not remove hearing protection in high noise areas, even for a moment. Signs should be posted advising you of where hearing protectors are required.

When it comes to hearing protection, fingers in your ears/hands over your ears or cotton balls do not provide adequate protection. Also, do not think "I'll get used to the noise" or "I have tough ears" and not wear hearing protection.
