Hearing Protectors, Training, and Record-Keeping
Affected employees must be trained annually on these topics:
- Effects of noise on hearing.
- Hearing protectors and their purpose, advantages, disadvantages, and attenuation, along with instructions on selection, fit, use, and care.
- Audiometric testing and its purpose, and the test procedures.
The employer must make available to affected employees a copy of 1910.95 and post a copy in the workplace.
Employers must keep records on noise exposure measurements for two years, and audiometric test records for the duration of the affected employee's employment. The records must be provided upon request to employees, former employees, and designated representatives of an employee.
