Corrosivity
Corrosive substances can dissolve containers and other materials on a work site, thus causing leakage of harmful materials. A waste exhibits the characteristic of corrosivity if the container label or SDS indicates that the material is corrosive. Examples of materials that may be classified as hazardous wastes due to corrosivity include battery acid, rust removers, concentrated hydrochloric (muriatic) acid, nitric acid, sulfuric acid, potassium hydroxide (caustic potash), and sodium hydroxide (caustic soda).
