Ignitability

A waste may exhibit the characteristic of ignitability if the label or Safety Data Sheet (SDS) indicates any of the following properties: flammable, combustible, liquid, or oxidizer. Examples of these hazardous wastes include the following:

  • Liquids with a flash point (the lowest temperature at which fumes above waste ignite) of 60° Celsius or 140° Fahrenheit. Examples include alcohol, gasoline, and acetone.
  • Solids that spontaneously combust.
  • Oxidizers and compressed gases.
