Program Requirements

To meet OSHA's requirements, the company's Safety and Health Program must provide detailed information on the following topics:

  • Work plan
  • Site evaluation and control
  • Site-specific safety and health plan
  • Information and training program
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) program
  • Monitoring
  • Medical surveillance program
  • Decontamination procedures
  • Emergency response program

Employers must periodically update the Safety and Health Program and make the update available to all affected employees, contractors, and subcontractors who could potentially be exposed to hazardous waste. The employer must also inform contractors and subcontractors, or their representatives, of any identifiable safety and health hazards, potential fire hazards, and explosion hazards, before they enter the work site.
