Some classes of lasers can be dangerous if not used properly. Certain types of lasers produce beams that do not diminish in power the further away from the laser one moves. Therefore, certain types of laser light can cause damaging effects both close up and very far away from the laser. Also, because laser light is extremely concentrated in a very small area, skin or eye exposure can cause localized and serious injuries in a short amount of time.
