Protective Filters
Exterior or interior windows that are located within the Nominal Hazard Zone (NHZ) of a Class 3B or Class 4 laser or laser system must be provided with appropriate absorbing filters, scattering filters, blocking barriers, or screens to reduce any transmitted laser radiation to levels below the applicable MPE level. Important factors for selection include ability to withstand direct and diffusely-scattered beams, flammability, and decomposition rate of the window material.
