Health Care Provider Responsibilities
Occupational health care providers are often the first people to examine workplace injuries, evaluate employees for functional capabilities, and restrict work if necessary. Therefore, they have a responsibility to be trained on MSDs, including the following:
- Receive training and experience in the evaluation and treatment of MSDs.
- Ensure employee privacy and confidentiality to the fullest extent permitted by law.
- Understand employee job activities, including process analyses and materials review.
- Evaluate employee symptoms, including medical histories, physical examinations, initial diagnoses, and follow-up care.
