Non-Beam Hazards
Non-beam laser hazards can cause a variety of injuries, including:
- Electrical hazards
- Fire and explosion hazards
- Laser-generated airborne contaminants
- Compressed gases, laser dyes, and solvents
- Biological agents
Due to the diversity of these potential hazards, it is the LSO's responsibility to conduct evaluations and implement the appropriate controls, some of which we will cover in the next section. The LSO may employ safety or industrial hygiene personnel to conduct non-beam hazard evaluations.
