Choose the Right Ladder

Choosing the right ladder is one of the most important parts of ladder safety. It will save you time and money and reduce the risk of injury. The following factors must be taken into account when you select a ladder:

• Specific task or work being performed
• The time required to complete the task
• The skills and experience of the person using the ladder
• The number of workers who will need to use the equipment
• Whether the equipment will need to be repositioned during the task
• Physical and environmental conditions, including uneven work surface, slippery conditions, and overhead clearance
• Height of work surface to be reached for job task
• Load put on the ladder
• Worker position in relation to the job task
• Maximum weight of the load, including materials and tools
