Established Program

Under federal law, an employer must provide a workplace free of known health and safety hazards. This includes protecting you from hazardous energy and informing you about hazardous energy controls. OSHA therefore requires employers to establish formal LOTO programs and to standardize LOTO procedures. When lockout or tagout is required, employees must follow these employer-designated LOTO procedures every single time it is required.

Shortcuts cause injuries and even death. Required training and safety programs have contributed to vastly safer workplaces; they should be OSHA-compliant and consistently employed and enforced.
