Devices

Devices are functional safeguards designed to perform safeguarding actions, as opposed to blocking access in the way a guard does. Rather than acting as a barrier between the worker and hazardous parts, devices ensure that the operator is out of harm's way and can also stop the machine if a foreign object, such as a worker's limb or other body part, enters the danger zone. The main categories of devices are as follows:

• Presence-sensing Devices
• Pullback Devices
• Restraint Devices
• Safety Trip Control Devices
• Two-hand Control Devices
• Two-hand Trip Devices
• Gate Devices
