Safety Trip Control Devices
Safety trip controls are devices that are activated by putting pressure on a sensor, thereby shutting down the machine. Workers may activate them by a shift in body weight, by applying pressure by hand, and so forth.
Advantages and Disadvantages of Safety Trip Control Devices
Safety trip devices protect workers by allowing the workers to shut down machines automatically through their body placement or a shift in their body weight. The devices have an extra feature that requires the machine to be manually reset after it is activated, ensuring that if a worker moves after activating the device, the machine does not resume its cycle. One drawback, however, is that these devices only protect the operator, as they must be manually activated and are positioned at the point of operation. Additionally, some may require installation of extra equipment.
