Scorpions
Twenty different types of scorpions live around the U.S. They are typically mottled tan or brown in color, with a flat body, eight legs, two claw-like pinchers, and a curved tail with a stinger on the end.
They can live underneath rocks and dark crevices, coming out to hunt (mostly at night). They use their stinger to kill prey and defend themselves.
Scorpion stings can cause symptoms similar to black widow bites (swelling, pain); if you are stung, you should seek medical advice and follow the treatment for spider bites.
