Tips for Dealing with Specific Biological Hazards - Allergens
The following are some tips for dealing with specific biological hazards:
Allergens
- Medical professionals can help you determine specific allergens (such as seasonal pollen, food, latex, and animal dander).
- Find out what allergens may be present in the workplace. Ask your supervisor about any presence of allergens that you know that you have.
- Check the news for the day's mold and pollen count. Even people that do not normally have allergies can be affected on days when the count is high.
- On high count days, work in air conditioned areas as much as possible. If you must work outside, wear gloves, a mask, and goggles for protection.
- If you take medications (prescription and over-the-counter) for allergies, then be aware of any potential side effects.
